Matthew Doan

Head Coach/Owner

Hi, I’m Coach Doan. I founded MAD Skills Academy to teach high school- and middle school-aged players the game of basketball through fundamental and conceptual skill development.

My passion for the game started at a young age. When I was 4 years old, my parents bought my older brothers and me a hoop for the driveway. My brothers’ one rule before I was allowed to play with them: “Learn how to dribble”. So I spent the entire summer in the garage watching them play and teaching myself how to dribble. I fell in love with the game immediately.

Since then, I’ve played on many teams, including stops with a District-runner up high school varsity team and college club national runner up at the University of Pittsburgh (2017 NCBBA Tournament). I’ve continued my post-playing career by coaching with numerous organizations, including Washington High School’s varsity staff for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
